Enart Artisan Expo

This past weekend my husband and I took the 5-7 hour bus ride to Guadalajara to attend the Enart Expo for artisans here in Mexico. Some how we always forget exactly how painful those bus rides are until we're in the middle of them. With only the weekend, our only real day there was on Saturday. The expo is in Tlaquepaque which is a small town about 15 minutes outside of Guadalajara. Very cute and charming! Here's a bit of what we saw and what we're planning for the near future for Alegria....

Cowhides have been having a major moment as rugs in the U.S. (I confess, we have one in our home!). They were all over the show. I saw them used on bags and most interesting as upholstery for furniture, which you don't see a ton of in the states. I loved the bar stool on the right with the whip stitching detail.......
Pretty, pretty lanterns I was drooling over....
I LOVE this type of pottery. The delicate patterns and pretty pastels had me at hello. Hoping to start working with artisans who create these soon.

A very typical Mexican blouse. BUT instead of embroidery along the neckline the entire thing was beaded. S-t-u-n-n-i-n-g.
I bought the Tan Otomi to the left which we're hoping to frame so that it looks similar to the image on the right! Thinking about starting to sell these as Otomi is extremely popular!
I bought dozens more Otomi embroideries in any pretty color I could find as they have been selling like HOT CAKES on One King's Lane. They'll soon all be turned into lovely dec pillows!
