Alegria Home’s philosophy is summed up well in its name – as “Alegria” means joy and happiness in Spanish. Above all else, Alegria Home values sustainability, fair trade and a commitment to providing our customers with truly unique and beautiful designs to create personal spaces that feel layered and curated. With designs based on the rich culture and talented artisans of Latin America and beyond, Alegria Home aims to bring together indigenous techniques and modern design. Textile designer Allison Jones has traveled the globe searching for the most unique styles and handcrafted goods unavailable through any other source.
Allison started her journey in the home textiles business in New York City, where she worked for more than a decade before embarking on a life changing adventure to Mexico City with her husband. It was far from an easy adjustment, but she took the time away to create her own line of home textiles using the sustainable means of production she so values. Rather than simply designing products based on the latest trends, Allison had the opportunity to create truly unique designs – influenced greatly by the skilled artisans of Mexico and Guatemala.
The rich traditions of Latin America are a cornerstone of Alegria Home to this day, and the company continues to seek out new communities of artisans around the world. Recently, the company began production in India and the United States, building on its mission to employ small artisan communities across the globe. The skill and expertise of these artisans is reflected in every single product Alegria Home offers.
